Benny Shakes has been performing comedy since April 2019 to full audiences at venues such as The Canalhouse, Howl at the Den, Laughing Pug Comedy Club & GoosePipe Comedy.
Benny has cerebral palsy and his ambition is to inspire and make as many people laugh as he can with his unshakeable punchlines.
Before the pandemic, Benny travelled the UK with a motley crew of comics, including a recovering drug addict and a punk environmentalist, breaking barriers with their comedy around disability and addiction. Benny has experience of severe mental health issues and comedy has been a lifeline for survival.
Since then, Benny has organised the bi-weekly comedians Zoom meet up, appeared on online comedy nights such as Laugh-Able and the The Lampoon Podcast and started his own brand new live podcast Benny Shakes Things Up, interviewing disabled comedians including Tanya Lee Davis and Elizabeth Vantaa Black.
Benny is originally from Ruislip and after attending Portland College to study Horticulture, now works on a community farm in Nottinghamshire.
