Is it a comic? Is it a poet? No, it’s Dan Webber. The stand-up poet, reluctant Bear and attempted vegan strips… away labels of life, love, the arts and the LGBTQ+ community, with his fast-paced, poignant and hilarious show. Under constant pressure from marketing people to decide whether he is a comic or poet, Dan navigates through the confusing world of definitions.
Genre Fluid has successfully toured festivals and events across the UK for the last three years including Nottingham Poetry Festival, Reading Fringe, and Leicester Comedy Festival. The show hits Edinburgh this year for a limited run.
Along with his Edinburgh Fringe debut, 2019 sees the arrival of Dan’s first book of the same title, published by Big White Shed, launching at the Derby Book Festival on 7th June.
“This is what it means to be LGBT in 2019” – Khakan Qureshi, Birmingham Asian LGBT
“A roller coaster of laughs and heart breaks, with some of my favourite poems being, ‘Anonymous at 6am’ and ‘Homo on the Rocks’ very different in tone and style and yet both equally as captivating” Impact Magazine
“An incredibly moving and funny look at labels in the arts, the LGBT+ community and in life. Dan is a deeply engaging storyteller who connects with the audience”- Theresa Keogh, Festival Director, Derby Book Festival
“A show filled with honest stories and emotions, all delivered with passion, skill, and the occasional cheeky smile! A fabulous performance that I’d happily recommend regardless of the label you give to yourself, or your choice of entertainment.”- Bob Rushton, Programme and Venue Manager – Derby Live
